Cami Richardson - Miss January
Cami has been on remarkable journey of self-discovery, advocacy, and personal growth. From her early life in New York to her career as a firefighter and later in the ski industry, Cami has navigated the challenges and celebrated the triumphs she has faced while navigating her identity as a transgender woman. She values her relationships, the importance of family support, and her commitment to advocating for the LGBTQ+ community. Cami's story is one of resilience, acceptance, and the pursuit of happiness, inspiring others to embrace their true selves.
Cami & Teri
Cami has been married to Teri Cook for almost 32 years after they met at Killington ski resort in Vermont. Cami is very thankful that when she first came out to Teri, she was very accepting and has continued to be that way. They love to ski, travel, cook, entertain and live in Park City, Utah, with their two dogs, Jeter and Charlie.
Passion for the Mountain
Cami has been involved in the ski industry for over 40 years and served as the Chief Financial Officer for American Ski Company, helping to take them public in 1997. Over the past years, she has averaged over 1 million vertical feet of skiing per year. She still works at the resort she bought, now called Canyons Village, where she serves as a greeter, thereby living to her personal mission of helping to educate and enlighten people about the transgender Community by being out in the community everyday, just being Cami.
Do You Know Who I Once Was?
In this book you will read how a successful man, married to a strong and beautiful woman, with a great family, who had an amazing career and lived a life that most people would die for, would come out as transgender at 63 years old. She tells of her life journey and eventually coming out as a trans-woman to friends and family. She speaks to the amazing acceptance she has been fortunate to receive and the hurtful rejection she's experienced
Advocacy
Cami has been heavily involved in the LGBTQ+ Community since she transitioned in 1996. She serves on numerous LGBTQ boards, has written two memoirs, one called Do you know who I once was? and the second, Foggy Goggles. She has done a TED talk called Transgender by Generations and is actively involved in her community by giving "Cami Talks." She loves her trans life and wants to continue to make a difference in people's lives.
